Mini Chapter -1. Get the boat
We get to the boat by covering 1200 km (750 mi) on roads, passing through cities and strange law enforcement officials who want to explain to us that it is impossible to drive a truck with a passenger trailer for free, in their opinion, although in Everything is spelled out in detail in the law. Another about 70-80 km along forest paths, directions and overcoming fords. I still remember the saying of the previous owner of the boat: “When passing a ford, be careful, look left and right so that a boat or motor boat does not drive into you.”
We arrived in the evening. To your destination. And... we didn’t see the boat. He was in a garage with a damaged lock, the original key did not fit. The search for electricity and a tool for opening the gate led to the fact that I saw him at one in the morning. The morning of the next day was more interesting and promised many adventures. It was possible to approach the boat from the stern, but it was not possible to roll it out straight away.
The brute force of several people was able to pull him out of the shelter with a rope along with the trailer in which he had been arriving for several years, without seeing sunlight or water. After the initial inspection and the decision to purchase it, several nuances became clear - we won’t be able to drive through the forest with it. Too narrow paths, small turning radii and lack of car power to pull a trailer over difficult rough terrain. Option one, – deliver it by water to the nearest slip.
On the shore we check the tightness of the hull. There was hope to start the engine, but it did not materialize. As a result, the cart and the boat end up in the water. The wheels begin to sink into the sand and the boat does not float up. Houston we have problems. With kind words, remembering the scientist Archimedes and his phrase: “Give me a fulcrum, and I will turn the Earth upside down”: we find a couple of tree trunks and, using them as levers, we push the trailer away from the shore for a couple of hours. At some point the boat floats up from the cart. We call a tug, which will instantly take us to the nearest slip.
You can do a lot in an hour, for example, cover 6 km in a towed boat along one of the cleanest lakes on the planet in early spring in the late afternoon. Cold! And the water is cold. Only an SUV with low gears and locks could lift the trailer with the boat on the slipway. We pick up the boat and set off on a 1200 km (750 mi) journey to the workshop. Along the way, we learn that the wheels on the trailer are not designed for the weight of this boat - they are always hot and look kind of deflated.
The boat was born white, instead of the classic red. The reason is that this boat was ordered by astronauts for their recreation center. The boat was manufactured in 1991, serial number 366, which corresponds to the year, especially since official documents and serial numbers have been preserved. This boat is one of the last in the Project 334 ”Borey” series. and belongs to the subtype Borey II.
